Audio Technica, and even Sony, are better than the rest of the brands you mention. However, you really should add Sennheiser and Shure to the mix.
You don’t say how much money you’re looking to spend, but the following should do the job for you:

Stay well away from Bose, Beats and Skullcandy. They make fashion accessories, not headphones.
