How do you get rid of hum from DJ speaker?
I have a Skytec speaker with built in amp, originally bought for a DJ station. I now use it to connect to my TV to watch DVDs and sometimes to my laptop to play music. There is an incessant hum. How do I get rid of it?
Sounds like a ground loop. I wont go into the long reason why you get ground loops, simply unground everything, or leave one grounded. If your not comfortable breaking off ground lugs off the power cords, then you can use 3 prong to 2 prong adapters you can get at any hardware store. I have never heard of anything happening ungrounding everything in all my years of designing systems, but as long as one component is grounded everything will be grounded through it.
