Jbl Speakers For Computer Questions

How could I use my powered PA speakers for home theater purposes?
My original home theater was a Mirage Nanostat 5.1 with a Denon receiver which worked great but since I have these big speakers sitting around when I’m not DJ’ing I would like to use them for movies/games/music and sell the surround sound for some extra cash.
What I’m wondering is how I would get everything hooked up all at once so I don’t have to move the cord around from the X-Box to the T.V. to the computer every time I wanna switch between them.
Should I just get a cheap amp so that I can control the volume (the speakers are REALLY loud and touchy) and hook everything up to? I wouldn’t think I’d need anything fancy since they’re powered speakers.
Here’s my speakers:

I have used high quality PA speakers for home stereo (like yours) and they sounded great! You may have to back off on the treble control a bit but otherwise you should be fine.
The biggest problem you may have is the output on your stereo – you need a “pre out” or headphone output. You cannot connect them to any speaker output!!!! If the Denon has a “pre out” , all you need is a pair of RCA to 1/4 inch cables – if it does not, all you need is a 1/4 inch TRS to 1/4 in mono Y cable (called an insert cable) and connect the headphone out to the speakers.

Computer Subwoofer Speakers for PCs
If you are an avid PC gamer, and love watching music and movies on your computer, installing a computer subwoofer speaker for your PC can aid you in getting the ultimate sound experience. The two main components of any speaker sound system are subwoofers and speakers – satellite speakers. All computer speakers do is amplify the sounds generated in your PC, but a computer subwoofer speaker can add really high quality depth of bass to your sounds.
A 2.1 sound system may be ideal for you if you’re on a budget (very simply, two speakers and an associated subwoofer), but if you want a much higher quality and truer surround sound experience with a lot more boom, you should really be looking at a 5.1 surround system for your PC.
Besides a speaker subwoofer, a 5.1 system will usually have five “satellites” – left, centre and right in front, and right and left surround speakers behind. If you want a lower number of speakers, however, you may prefer to use a wireless or virtual surround sound system. Very often, you will buy a 5.1 system as a complete package, but you can also buy individual components and assemble your system from separate speakers and subwoofer. For the best quality, a bigger speaker is usually better. Also, having your subwoofer in close proximity to your front speakers will usually help provide a smoother bass response. Subwoofers with their own onboard amplifiers are usually of high quality and sound better.
It should be easy to position a 10″ computer subwoofer in your preferred location and so it should be perfect for most purposes. If you’re looking at 10 inch subwoofer brands, you might consider models such as the Polk Audio PSW10, Kicker Comp 07C104 and JBL ES150PBK.
If you want to create a really rich and deep bass from your PC sounds, a 10″ subwoofer and its associated speakers can help, and you can expect to get from them an atmosphere like a theatre and really intense gaming sound effects on your favorite games.
